Hadronic Resonance Spectrum May Help in Resolution of Meson Nonet Enigmas

The identification of problematic meson states as the members of the quark model qq̄ nonets by using a hadronic resonance spectrum is discussed. The results favor the currently adopted qq̄ assignments for the axial-vector, tensor, and 1 F4 J PC = 4 meson nonets, and suggest a new qq̄ assignment for the Bitnet: [email protected] Bitnet: [email protected]. By the application of a linear mass spectrum to a composite system of both the pseudoscalar and scalar meson nonets, we find three relations for the masses of the scalar states which suggest the qq̄ assignment for the scalar meson nonet: a0(1320), K ∗ 0 (1430), f0(1500) and f ′ 0(980).
